Information for THE MEDIA

A global gap between supply and demand for skilled workers is a matter of increasing concern for governments and employers, both in developed and developing nations.  Increasingly, they are turning to outside organisations for expert advice, research and sector intelligence.  This is the work undertaken by the City & Guilds Centre for Skills Development.

We work to provide a clear and accurate picture of the challenges facing the global economy.  Our aim is to raise the profile and understanding of vocational skills internationally, as knowledge is the key to addressing the skills gaps and shortages in many nations.  One of the most powerful means of sharing information across a global network is through the media.

By reaching and engaging the widest possible audience, we can foster change and development within the sector by encouraging action and greater involvement, and opening up debate.  Through the media we can also raise public awareness of our work, our partners and our projects, helping to put skills firmly on the agenda.

This site is regularly updated with new press releases, case studies and press clippings.  You can also find a wealth of information under the ‘Information for researchers’ tab on the left of this page, including sector-specific data and reports.

We are always happy to respond to media enquiries.  If you wish to speak to us about our work, or if we can be of help to you for your story or research, please contact Andy Wasley on +44 207 294 3576 or andy.wasley@skillsdevelopment.org.  You may also wish to visit our online press office
