Welcome

Welcome to the first issue of the City & Guilds Centre for Skills Development e-newsletter. The issue of skills development has never been higher on the political agenda, both within the UK and internationally. This newsletter is for members of the international skills community (policy makers, practitioners, employers and researchers) and aims to help advance the policy and practice of work-related education and training by:

  • sharing good practice
  • sparking debate around key issues in skills development, including employer engagement, supply and demand, perceptions of vocational education and training and quality of provision
  • identifying key research and helping policy makers to understand implications for policy formulation.

We hope you enjoy the first edition and we look forward to your contribution and feedback.

we want to hear from you

Join and discuss the pressing issues within vocational education and training of today. What do you think can be done to increase the prosperity of individuals and organisations worldwide though skills training and education?

Recent case studies

In the course of our work and research, we have identified a number of examples of international vocational skills practice, some of which are summarised here. The projects and initiatives are designed to improve vocational education and training, either at a local, national or international level.

Here are our most recent studies:
